Psychological service

Seek professional treatment from a mental health care provider if you are experiencing symptoms of any Mental health condition like depression, anxiety or C-PTSD.

Most tests done at RaiCare Health are reasonably priced, but cost varies depending on the purpose.

TIME • 1 – 4 HOURS

Depending on which test is used and the purpose of the assessment.

PURPOSE

Most of the time it is to select the most appropriate treatment. It can also be for DSP or NDIS purposes. We do not carry out assessments for clients we do not treat.

OUTCOME

The best outcome is well-informed treatment, receiving support through NDIS, or receiving a DSP for those who need it most.

Psychometric assessment

At RaiCare Health Specialist we carry out assessments for our existing clients, where needed, to inform their treatment options.

TYPES OF ASSESSMENT:

COGNITIVE ASSESSMENTS

Cognitive assessments are often requested by schools to provide additional information about support needs prior to school entry, and are helpful where there are concerns about a person's learning abilities or capacity to be independent.

A cognitive assessment generally takes half a day (approximately 3–4 hours). We use the Wechsler intelligence scales, with the exact assessment depending on the individual's age:

✔ WPPSI-IV (Australian Adaptation) — children aged 2 years 6 months to 7 years 7 months
✔ WISC-V (Australian Adaptation) — children aged 6 years to 16 years 11 months
✔ WAIS-IV — individuals aged 16 to 90 years

Supervision

There are many different approaches to supervision. Some focus on the interpersonal relationship between supervisor and supervisee, others on developing competence through didactic skills learning, and others combine approaches that encourage learning through understanding the client relationship.

Whichever approach is taken, a core aim of supervision is to guide the supervisee to develop and strengthen their practice while being supported by a more experienced professional.
